Fiery Crash on I-8 in Jacumba in East San Diego County Kills Two, Injures One
SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA (July 10, 2020) – On Thursday afternoon, a vehicle crashed, overturned, and caught fire in Jacumba in East San Diego County, killing two people, and injuring one. The July 9 incident occurred on I-8 on the eastbound side of the road, close to the brake check area known as In-Ko-Pah.
The time was roughly 2:30 p.m., Cal Fire San Diego said.
Reports say a vehicle–which has not been described–crashed and overturned, for reasons that are not known. The vehicle erupted in flames.
Responders arrived to help. Two of the vehicle’s occupants died at the incident site.
Responders transported one person by airlift to the hospital. The person suffered injuries that were described as major.
None of the victims have been identified in reports, including their names, ages, gender, and cities of residence. It is not known who the driver of the vehicle had been when the crash occurred.
The current condition of the surviving victim is not known.
Investigators are working to collect details and information to understand the causes of the crash.
