SAN DIEGO, CA (December 27, 2019) – On Thursday afternoon, a vehicle traveling on I-8 in San Diego was struck by a wood chipper trailer that separated from a landscaping truck. The December 26 incident occurred in the eastbound lanes, close to I-15 in the area of Mission Valley.
The time was roughly a little before 12:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Reports say a vehicle—which has not been described—was struck by a wood chipper trailer that separated from the landscaping truck that was towing it.
Reports say that after the impact, gasoline began to leak on the roadway, and a fire erupted. It is not clear if the gasoline leaked from the chipper or the vehicle that was struck.
