Vehicle Crashes into Fence in San Diego’s City Heights Area in Possible Road Rage Incident
SAN DIEGO, CA (January 30, 2020) – Early in the morning on Wednesday, a vehicle crashed and landed on top of a fence in San Diego’s City Heights area. The January 29 incident, which occurred on University Avenue, may have involved an incident of road rage.
The time was roughly 12:30 a.m.
Reports say a driver had been heading down University Avenue. According to the driver, in an area close to where I-805 is located, he was behind a vehicle that was going slowly. The driver passed the other vehicle.
According to the driver, reports say, the other driver was angry about being passed. The other driver chased the first driver for roughly a mile as they traveled on University Avenue.
The vehicle that was chasing the vehicle that had passed it clipped its rear end. The vehicle that was clipped went out of the driver’s control. It struck a tree, and was propelled into a metal fence close to the intersection of University Avenue and 39th Street.
The vehicle overturned, landing on the side. The driver was trapped in the vehicle.
Responders arrived and worked to free the driver from the wrecked vehicle. They transported him to a hospital in the area.
The injuries he suffered were described as minor. His identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
Investigators are continuing to gather details and information regarding the incident.
