Two-vehicle Collision in San Diego’s Clairemont Area Kills One Person
SAN DIEGO, CA (December 12, 2019) – On Wednesday afternoon, two vehicles collided in San Diego’s Clairemont area, killing one of the drivers. The December 11 incident occurred where Genesee Avenue and Chateau Drive intersect.
The time was roughly 12:30 p.m., San Diego Police said.
Reports say a vehicle—described as a Lexus sedan—had been traveling southbound on Genesee Avenue. According to reports, the Lexus went through the intersection on a red light, and turned to the left onto Chateau Drive in front of a Tesla SUV.
The two vehicles collided. The person who had been driving the Lexus was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash. He died at the incident site. He was identified only as 57 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
Responders transported the driver of the Tesla to a hospital, according to Tony Martinez, who is an officer. The types of injuries the man suffered may include an injury to his arm, according to reports. His current condition is not known.
