Three-vehicle Collision in San Diego’s Egger Highlands Causes Injuries
SAN DIEGO, CA (July 24, 2019) – A three-vehicle collision, in which one of the vehicles involved was a police vehicle, in San Diego early in the morning on Wednesday injured two people. The July 24 incident occurred in the Egger Highlands neighborhood, on Palm Avenue in the 1700 block.
The time was roughly 3:15 a.m., according to police.
Reports say a vehicle—described as an SUV—collided with a police vehicle. According to the driver of the SUV, reports say, the police vehicle drove in front of his vehicle, and he could not avoid it.
The force of the collision sent the SUV spinning, and it ended up in the middle of the road. When the driver opened the door to his vehicle, another vehicle that was traveling toward it smashed the SUV.
Responders arrived and transported the driver of the SUV, and the person who had been driving the other vehicle to a hospital. The types of injuries each person suffered have not been reported.
The identities of each driver have not been reported, including the person’s name, age, and city of residence. It is not known if anyone had been traveling in the vehicles as a passenger.
According to reports, two officers who had been inside the police vehicle were not injured in the incident.
Investigators are working to understand what contributed to the crashes by examining the details and information. At this time, they are still gathering evidence.
