Suspected Hit-and-run Driver Leaves 3-vehicle Crash Near San Diego Airport
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 12, 2020) – On Saturday morning, a suspected hit-and-run driver involved in a three-vehicle crash near the San Diego International Airport was recorded on video by bystanders, reports say. The August 8 incident occurred on N. Harbor Drive close to Lee Court.
The time was roughly 9:30 a.m.
According to reports, a bystander began recording video shortly after the collision involving three vehicles. A vehicle–described as a truck, white in color–is reported to have smashed into the rear of another truck, described as a Ford F-350.
The white truck also sideswiped a car, Kathleen Gleason said. Gleason is reported to have been the driver of the car.
The white truck is reported to have left the incident site at a fast speed. Officers began pursuit moments later.
According to Gleason, who is a driver for Lyft, she had been dropping off a person at the airport when the truck hit her vehicle. Gleason said bystanders gave the person who was her passenger a ride from the accident site to the airport. The passenger has not been identified in reports.
Authorities arrested the suspected hit-and-run driver. The identity of the person, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.
The identity of the driver of the Ford truck has not been reported. It is not known if anyone suffered injuries in the crash.
Investigators are working on gathering details regarding the incident.
