Suspected Hit-and-run Driver in San Diego’s Jamacha-Lomita Area Kills Pedestrian
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 22, 2020) – Late at night on Thursday, a suspected hit-and-run driver struck and killed a pedestrian in the area of Jamacha-Lomita in San Diego. The May 21 incident occurred on Jamacha Road in the 8100 block, close to Glencoe Drive.
The time was roughly a little before 11:00 p.m., according to Robert Heims. Heims is an officer with San Diego Police.
Reports say a man had been walking in the eastbound lanes on Jamacha Road, against traffic. A vehicle–described as a BMW sedan–which had been traveling west, hit him.
The person who was driving the vehicle continued to travel on Jamacha Road. He parked his car within a few blocks of the crash site and started to walk from the scene.
Responders arrived and transported the injured pedestrian to a hospital. He was pronounced deceased in the hospital.
The victim was identified only as 28 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
Officers arrived and found the suspected driver. He was detained, reports say, on suspicion of fleeing the scene of the deadly incident.

Investigators are working to understand the circumstances of the crash, and the factors that contributed, by collecting information and details.
