Suspect Steals Truck from La Mesa Dealership; Crashes into Kearny Mesa Dealership to Steal SUV

SAN DIEGO, CA (October 18, 2019) – Early in the morning on Thursday, a suspect entered an auto dealership in La Mesa, stole a truck, and then crashed the truck into a dealership in Kearny Mesa where he then stole an SUV. The October 17 incident occurred at 7300 Clairemont Boulevard where the Kearny Mesa Ford/Kia dealership is located, and at the Carl Burger auto dealership in La Mesa, located at 8355 Hercules Street.

The time was roughly 6:15 a.m., according to San Diego Police.

Reports say the suspect stole a truck from the Carl Burger auto dealership, then drove it to the Kearney Mesa dealership.

He smashed into the gate at the back of the Kearney Mesa dealership, but was not able to drove through. The suspect exited the vehicle, found a key box, and entered a Ford Mustang on the lot.

The suspect left the Mustang after failing to find a exit, reports say. The suspect took another key and drove away in an SUV, black in color. Reports say the suspect damaged multiple vehicles on the lot in the incident.

According to reports, officers saw the abandoned SUV on State Route 52 close to Convoy Street. The suspect was not with the vehicle.

The suspect was described only as a man. He had on khaki pants and a red shirt at the time of the incidents.

Investigators are collecting details, information, and evidence to find the suspect.
