Woman Identified as Person Killed after Car Crashed into Tecolote Creek in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (March 15, 2021) – Sidnie Waller was identified by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office as the woman who died from the injuries she suffered on March 4, when the vehicle she was traveling in crashed and fell into Tecolote Creek. Waller was a resident of San Martin in Santa Clara County, 21 years old.
The crash occurred when the vehicle, in which Waller had been a passenger, was heading south on I-5. According to reports, the vehicle was seen going at a fast speed while exiting the freeway at the off-ramp for Sea World Drive.
The vehicle plunged off the road and landed in Tecolote Creek.
Responders freed Waller from the vehicle, which was partially under water, and transported her to UC San Diego Medical Center. She was pronounced deceased three days later, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
Reports say the cause of death was described as brain injury and heart failure owing to drowning, and contributing factors were head injuries due to blunt force trauma.
Investigators are continuing their work on the incident.
