Series of Crashes on State Route 94 in San Diego Causes Injuries
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 12, 2019) – A series of crashes early in the morning on Monday on State Route 94 caused damage and injuries in San Diego. The August 12 incident occurred in the area of Mount Hope, on the eastbound side of the freeway and close to I-15.
The time was roughly 2:15 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Reports say a vehicle became stalled in the freeway’s slow lane, and its driver called 911 to report it had run out of gas.
A vehicle that was approaching the stopped vehicle hit it, and then overturned, landing upside down. The overturned vehicle has not been described.
Traffic in the area veered around the wreck; however, one vehicle—described as a sedan, white in color—could not swerve away and smashed into the upside vehicle.
Before responders arrived, Good Samaritans had stopped their vehicles and tried to help the victims. Only one victim has been described—a female who had been driving the white sedan.
Responders transported her to a hospital. The types of injuries she suffered, and her current condition are not known. Her identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
It is not known if anyone else was hurt in the incident.
