Series of Crashes on I-8 Near Mission Valley in San Diego Causes Injuries
SAN DIEGO, CA (June 22, 2020) – On Sunday afternoon, a series of crashes on I-8 in San Diego caused injuries. The June 21 incident occurred near Mission Valley, on the eastbound side of the freeway, and close to where the interchange for I-805 is located.
The time was roughly 2:30 p.m.
Reports say a sequential crash occurred, and one vehicle overturned. The number of vehicles involved in the chain-reaction collision has not been reported, nor the types of vehicles.
It is not known who the driver of each vehicle had been when the crash occurred, including name, age, gender, and city of residence. Reports do not say if any passengers were present in any of the vehicles that collided.
Responders transported one person who had been traveling in the vehicle that rolled over. The types of injuries the person suffered are not known. The current condition of the patient has not been reported. The identity of the person is not known.
It is not known from reports if other people were injured in the crash.
Investigators are working to understand what circumstances and factors initiated the chain-reaction crash, and the sequence that involved the multiple vehicles.
