Pickup Truck Heading the Wrong Way on I-15 in San Diego Collides with Big Rig
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 15, 2019) – A pickup truck that was traveling the wrong way on I-15 in San Diego collided with a big rig early in the morning on Monday. The May 13 incident occurred in the lanes of the freeway that head south, in an area north of state Route 76 and close to Lilac Road.
The time was roughly 1:28 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Reports say California Highway Patrol received calls of a man who was driving north in the freeway’s south lanes in a vehicle described as a Toyota Tacoma. The Toyota smashed into a big rig head on, according to Sergeant Curtis Martin.
The person who had been driving the big rig said he tried to avoid the collision by swerving, but the move caused his truck to jackknife, and fuel spilled.
The person who had been driving the pickup truck and the person who had been driving the big rig were injured and, according to reports, the injuries were not serious. The types of injuries each suffered have not been described.
The identity of the big rig driver has not been reported, including the person’s name, age, and city of residence.
