Pickup Truck and Semi Collide on State Route 163 in San Diego, Causing Damage and Injuries

SAN DIEGO, CA (February 6, 2020) –  Early in the morning on Thursday, a collision involving a pickup truck and a semi caused damage and injury near San Diego’s Kearny Mesa area. The February 6 incident occurred on State Route 163 in the southbound lanes, close to where the State Route 52 interchange is located.

The time was roughly a little before 5:00 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.

Reports say the semi-truck, carrying an oversized load that was a segment of a house, had been stopped on the right shoulder. The pickup truck smashed into the rear end of the semi.

The impact of the crash caused the pickup to overturn and land on its side across the middle lanes of the road.

Responders arrived and worked to free the driver of the pickup from the wreckage. The driver suffered injuries that were described as minor. The identity of the driver of the pickup truck—including name, age, gender, and city of residence—has not been reported.

The driver of the semi-truck was also reported to have suffered minor injuries. The semi-truck’s driver has also not been identified in reports.

Investigators are working to understand the circumstances of the crash by collecting details and information.
