Pedestrian Seriously Injured by Hit-and-run Motorcyclist in San Diego’s Ocean Beach
SAN DIEGO, CA (July 6, 2020) – On Sunday night, a pedestrian was struck by a hit-and-run motorcyclist in San Diego’s Ocean Beach. The July 5 incident occurred on Sunset Cliffs Boulevard close to Voltaire Street.
The time was roughly 8:40 p.m., according to John Buttle. Buttle is an officer with San Diego Police.
Reports say the rider had been traveling north on South Cliffs Boulevard. At the intersection with Voltaire Street, a number of vehicles were reported to have stopped in front of the rider to wait for a light that was red.
The rider began to pass the vehicles on the left. A pedestrian–who was walking across the street in between the vehicles that were stopped–was hit by the motorcyclist.
The rider did not stop and stay at the incident site. According to reports, he left his passenger–described as a female–at the scene. Her name, age, and city of residence have not been reported.
Responders arrived and transported the victim to a hospital. He suffered injuries that include a hip that was dislocated, according to Buttle.
The victim was identified as 26 years old. His name has not been reported.
Investigators are searching for the motorcyclist. The motorcycle he had been riding was described as a Harley Davidson.
