Multi-vehicle Crash on I-8 Ramp in San Diego’s Mission Valley Causes Pickup to Burn
SAN DIEGO, CA (January 27, 2021) – Early in the morning on Tuesday in the Mission Valley area of San Diego, a collision led to a pickup truck erupting in flames. The January 26 incident occurred on I-8, close to the offramp for Hotel Circle.
The time was roughly 8:30 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
As many as three vehicles may have collided on the ramp that connects westbound I-8 to State Route 163 southbound. A vehicle–described as a Ford F150 pickup truck–and another vehicle–described as a Honda sedan–collided. A third vehicle, which has not been described, may also have been involved in the collision.
The vehicles blocked the left-hand lane of the ramp. The pickup truck erupted in flames.
Reports do not say if anyone was hurt in the crash. None of the drivers involved in the collision have been identified, including their names, ages, gender, and cities of residence.
Investigators are working to understand why the crash happened. They are in the process of collecting details and information.
