Man Riding Scooter Struck and Injured on West Mission Drive in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (February 22, 2021) – Early in the afternoon on Sunday in San Diego, a man who was riding a scooter was struck and injured. The February 21 incident occurred in the area of Mission Bay Park, on West Mission Drive in the 1200 block.
The time was roughly 1:25 p.m., according to John Buttle. Buttle is an officer with San Diego Police.
According to Buttle, the vehicle–described as a Ford Escape–struck the scooter rider when the driver was going over a bridge. The vehicle drifted over toward the rider, on the right side of the road.
Responders arrived and transported the patient to the hospital. According to Buttle, the victim suffered injuries that include a brain bleed, and also road rash. His current condition is not known.
The victim was identified only as 30 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
The person who had been driving the vehicle was identified as a woman, 67 years old. Her name and city of residence have not been reported.
