Man Crossing Against Light at El Cajon Boulevard Intersection in San Diego is Struck and Injured

SAN DIEGO, CA (March 31, 2020) – Late in the afternoon on Sunday, a man who was walking against the light at an intersection in San Diego was struck and injured. The March 29 incident occurred in the area of North Park, where El Cajon Boulevard and Iowa Street intersect.

The time was roughly 5:00 p.m., according to John Buttle. Buttle is an officer with San Diego Police.

Reports say a man had been walking a bicycle within a crosswalk and while the light was red. A vehicle—described as a Honda Civic—hit him.

Responders transported the victim to a hospital. He suffered injuries to his head and ankle. His current condition is not known. He was identified only as 45 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.

The person who had been driving the vehicle stayed at the incident site and cooperated with investigators. The driver was identified only as a man in his forties. His name and city of residence have not been reported.

Investigators are working on the detail-gathering efforts necessary to understand the crash.
