Hit-and-Run Driver Strikes Woman in San Diego, Fracturing Her Back
SAN DIEGO, CA (February 25, 2019) – A hit-and-run driver struck a woman in the evening on Saturday in San Diego, fracturing her back. The February 23 accident occurred in the community of Clairemont Mesa West, according to police.
The time was roughly a bit before 6:25 p.m.
Reports say the woman had been walking in a crosswalk at the intersection of Derrick Drive and Genesee Avenue when a vehicle struck her. The driver did not remain at the accident scene.
Respondents arrived and took the injured woman to a hospital in the area, Robert Heims said. Heims is an officer with the San Diego Police Department. The woman—identified only as 59 years old—suffered a back that was fractured. Her name and city of residence have not yet been reported.
According to police, they do not have a description of the hit-and-run driver or of the vehicle. Police ask that if anyone has information regarding the incident, he or she should contact Crime Stoppers. The number is 888-580-8477.
