San Diego Hit-and-run Driver Pins Man Putting His Child in His Car
SAN DIEGO, CA (March 9, 2021) – On Sunday afternoon in San Diego, a man was severely injured by a hit-and-run driver who pinned him as he was putting his child in his car. The March 7 incident occurred close to 5900 University Avenue at a grocery store.
The time was roughly 3:00 p.m., San Diego Police said.
The victim had been putting his child–aged 7–in his Toyota Corolla, helping the child into the back seat. A vehicle–described as a Saturn Vue, silver in color–had been traveling in the parking lot and veered before pinning the man against the Toyota, police said.
The person who had been driving the Saturn remained for a matter of seconds, reports say, and then left the scene as people in the area headed toward the victim. According to reports, video from a surveillance camera recorded the Saturn in the shopping center parking lot.
Responders arrived and found the victim suffered injuries to his lower body that were described as severe. They transported him to a hospital.
His current condition is not known. He was identified only as 47 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
Investigators are searching for the Saturn vehicle, and the suspect hit-and-run driver, who has not been described. If anyone has information about the crash, the person can contact San Diego Police at the Traffic Division. The number is 858-495-7813.
