Hit-and-run Driver Kills Woman on Otay Mesa Road in San Diego’s South Bay Area
SAN DIEGO, CA (March 6, 2020) – On Thursday morning, a hit-and-run driver killed a woman in San Diego’s South Bay area. The March 5 incident occurred where Cactus Road and Otay Mesa Road intersect, near Brown Field Municipal Airport, and to the south of it.
The time was roughly 9:15 a.m., according to Billy Hernandez. Hernandez is a public affairs officer with San Diego Police.
Reports say a woman had been walking across Otay Mesa Road within a crosswalk that is marked, according to people who witnessed the incident. A vehicle—described as a Nissan Altima, silver in color—went through a light that was red and struck the woman. The person driving the vehicle did not remain at the incident site, and left the victim.
Responders arrived and pronounced the woamn deceased at the scene. She was identified only as 21 years old. Her name and city of residence have not been reported.
Investigators are searching for the vehicle involved, and the driver. They are continuing to collect evidence and information regarding the incident.
