Hit-and-run Driver Injures Pedestrian on National Avenue in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (November 15, 2019) – Early in the morning a Thursday, a hit-and-run driver struck and injured a pedestrian in San Diego’s Mountain View area. The November 14 incident occurred on National Avenue in the 3600 block, close to 36th Street.
The time was roughly a little after 6:30 a.m., San Diego Police said.
Reports say a vehicle—described as a Lincoln Navigator SUV, black in color—hit the victim, who was entering his vehicle. The Lincoln also struck several vehicles that were parked on the street.
Responders arrived and transported the injured man to a hospital. According to reports, the victim suffered injuries to his head and spine. His current condition is not known.
The identity of the victim, including his name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
According to people who witnessed the crash, the person who had been driving the SUV—described as a male roughly in his 30s—fled the scene on foot.
The parked vehicles that were struck by the suspect have not been described, and the owners of the vehicles have not been identified.
Investigators are searching for the suspected hit-and-run driver. They are continuing to collect details, information, and evidence, including surveillance video.
