Good Samaritan Struck By Vehicle While Helping Driver of Rollover Crash on I-8 in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (December 5, 2019) – A Good Samaritan, who had stopped to help a driver who was thrown in a rollover crash on Wednesday, was struck and injured in San Diego. The December 4 incident occurred on I-8 on the westbound side, near I-805 and to the east of it.
The time was roughly 4:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Reports say a vehicle—which has not been described—crashed and overturned, landing on its roof. The driver was thrown from the vehicle, and he landed beside the freeway.
A vehicle—described as an SUV—approached the crash scene, and the driver stopped to aid the man on the ground. While the Good Samaritan was walking toward the victim on the ground, a car hit the Good Samaritan.
Responders arrived and transported the two injured men to a hospital. The types of injuries they suffered, and their current condition, is not known.
The identity of each of the men has not been reported, including name, age, and city of residence.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the Good Samaritan stayed at the incident site and cooperated with investigators. The identity of the driver has not been reported. The vehicle has not been described.
