Woman Identified as Victim in Wheelchair Killed by Hit-and-run Driver in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (December 13, 2019) – Gloria Williams was identified as the victim who was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver while she was riding her motorized wheelchair in San Diego. The December 9 incident occurred on Euclid Avenue in the 100 block in the area of Lincoln Park.
The time was a little before 4:00 a.m., according to San Diego Police.
Reports say Williams had been riding in her motorized wheelchair in the street’s left lane when a vehicle—described as an SUV, dark in color—hit her from the rear. The driver did not stop to help Williams, but fled the scene.
Responders arrived and found Williams deceased at the incident site. She was 62 years old.
Investigators are searching for the suspect driver and the vehicle involved in the incident. According to reports, Smart Street Lights in the area that have optical sensors captured details of the vehicle and recorded the suspect shopping in the area.
Video from surveillance cameras at the gas station where the suspect shopped also recorded him. San Diego Police released the images and are seeking information about the suspect.
