Fiery Crash Involving Multiple Vehicles on I-8 in San Diego’s Mission Valley Causes Injuries
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 20, 2020) – On Wednesday night in San Diego’s Mission Valley, a fiery crash involving multiple vehicles caused injuries. The August 19 incident occurred on I-8, in an area between Texas Street and Mission Center Road.
The time was roughly 10:15 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
At least four vehicles were reported to have collided, including a car described as a Mazda CX5, and a motorcycle. The other vehicles have not been described.
Responders arrived and found a motorcyclist down on the roadway. The person who had been driving the Mazda said a collision happened in front of her vehicle. She is reported to have said that she tried to miss the crash site. An object became wedged beneath her vehicle, and the vehicle started to burn.
Responders transported a patient to a hospital with injuries that were described as minor to moderate. It is not known which vehicle the patient had been traveling in, or on.
None of the people involved in the crash have been identified in reports. No details are known regarding the first crash involving the vehicles that have not been described.
Investigators are working to understand the circumstances and sequence of events of the crashes.
