Driver Suspected of Striking Officer and Patrol Vehicles in San Diego’s Clairemont Area is Arrested
SAN DIEGO, CA (July 10, 2020) – Early in the morning on Thursday, a driver is alleged to have had hit a police officer and two patrol vehicles in San Diego’s Clairemont area. The July 9 incident occurred at a Chevron gas station located on Balboa Avenue close to Genesee Avenue.
The time was roughly 2:00 a.m., according to Jessie Holt. Holt is a sergeant with San Diego Police.
Reports say authorities received a call that a driver was blocking the gas station’s driveway, and playing music that was loud. When police officers came on scene and tried to talk to the driver, she would not respond nor exit her car, reports say.
According to reports, the driver is alleged to have driven forward and hit two patrol vehicles that were parked. She is alleged to have put her vehicle in reverse, and driven forward a second time.
The driver is alleged to have hit a police officer as she left. After running over a spike strip that was emplaced close to the incident site, the driver was stopped and arrested nearby.
The driver was identified only as 21 years old. Her name and city of residence have not been reported. She was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
According to reports, the officer who was struck was not hurt in the incident. The identity of the officer has not been reported.
Investigators are working on collecting details and information regarding the incident.
