Driver Suspected of DUI Hits Police Car, Multiple Vehicles in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (October 4, 2019) – On Wednesday night, a driver suspected of DUI struck a police vehicle in the area of Mission Beach in San Diego. The September 2 incident occurred where Strandway and Ventura Place intersect.
The time was roughly 10:00 p.m.
Reports say a police officer made a traffic stop for a vehicle in which the driver was suspected of driving under the influence (DUI). As the officer approached the suspected driver, the driver is alleged to have put the vehicle in reverse, hit the police vehicle, and then left the site.
The suspect driver collided with a truck, and hit a vehicle that was parked. According to people who witnessed the incident, reports say, the suspect driver repeatedly struck the vehicles while trying to flee.
The suspect driver exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Police apprehended the driver, and he was arrested. His identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
The owners of the vehicles that were struck have not been identified. It is not known if anyone was hurt in the incident.
Investigators are working to gather details and evidence regarding the incident.
