SAN DIEGO, CA (February 28, 2020) –  On Thursday afternoon, a driver smashed into an apartment building in the Oak Park area of San Diego, and was injured. Reports say the vehicle had been traveling around a corner when, for reasons that are not known, it went out of the driver’s control. The vehicle hit a car that was parked in the area, and smashed into the apartment building. Two units were damaged in the crash.

Responders transported the driver to UC San Diego Health. The types of injuries he suffered, and his current condition, are not known. His identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.

According to authorities with San Diego Fire-Rescue, no other person was hurt in the incident, and the number of residents displaced included six children, six adults, and four pets.

The building was to be inspected to determine whether it was structurally sound, and whether residents could return.

The owner of the building has not been identified. The owner of the parked car that was struck has also not been identified.
