Driver Crashes into Utility Pole in San Diego, Cutting Power to 1,000 Customers
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 11, 2020) – After crashing into a utility pole in San Diego early in the morning on Saturday, a driver was trapped inside. The May 9 incident occurred close to where Paradise Road and Division Street intersect.
The time was roughly a little after 5:00 a.m.
Reports say a driver–identified only as a man–crashed into a utility pole after losing control of his vehicle. According to authorities, the man suffered a medical issue, and the truck he was driving went out of his control.
The truck traveled off the roadway, struck a street sign, and a pole, and landed on its roof. Responders from the fire department worked to extricate the victim. They took him to a hospital with injuries that have not been described.
His current condition is not known. The man’s identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
According to reports, roughly 1,000 customers of San Diego Gas & Electric lost power when the crash happened. Crews worked to restore power to the area.
