Collision with Armored Military Vehicle on I-15 In San Diego, Traps Pickup Truck Driver
SAN DIEGO, CA (December 3, 2019) – A collision early in the morning on Tuesday on I-15 in San Diego trapped a driver when his pickup truck collided with an armored military vehicle. The December 3 incident occurred on the northbound side of the freeway, in the area of Scripps Ranch, close to Scripps Poway Parkway.
The time was roughly 12:25 a.m.
Reports say a vehicle—described as a pickup truck—struck the rear end of a Marine vehicle, for reasons that are not known. The military vehicle was part of a convoy of other military vehicles when the incident occurred.
Responders arrived and worked to free the driver who was trapped in the pickup truck following the collision. Responders transported the man to a hospital.
The types of injuries he suffered, and his current condition, are not known. His identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
According to reports, no military personnel were injured in the crash.
Investigators are working to understand the circumstances and factors of the incident.
