Collision on SR-94 in Golden Hill Area of San Diego Involves Wrong-way Driver
SAN DIEGO, CA (February 26, 2020) – Early in the morning on Wednesday, a wrong-way driver collided with a vehicle on SR-94 in the area of Golden Hill in San Diego. The February 26 incident occurred in the lanes that head west, close to 28th Street.
The time was roughly 3:45 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Reports say a vehicle—described as a Honda CR-V SUV, silver in color—had been traveling east in the lanes that head west. The Honda hit a vehicle—which has not been described—and the other vehicle went spinning. The impact sent debris and a tire across the freeway’s lanes.
A third vehicle—which was described only as a car—hit the tire as the car traveled on the roadway. The third vehicle was damaged from the impact.
According to reports, the Honda traveled for approximately a half mile after the initial collision and then it stopped.
Responders arrived and helped the people involved in the incident. Reports say responders did not transport anyone to a hospital.
None of the drivers involved in the incident have been identified, including name, age, and city of residence.
The wrong-way driver was arrested. Investigators are working to collect details and information to understand the circumstances that led to the crash.
