Collision on I-805 in San Diego Involving Box Truck and Car Causes Injuries
SAN DIEGO, CA (November 12, 2019) – Early in the morning on Sunday in San Diego, a car and a box truck collided on I-805 causing injuries. The November 10 incident occurred on the freeway’s southbound side, in the area of Kearney Mesa, and close to the exit for Balboa Avenue.
The time was roughly 4:15 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Reports say the two vehicles collided, but the way in which they crashed, and the events leading up to it, have not been reported. In the incident, the truck hit the divider in the center of the freeway, and pieces broke off of the truck, including the front axle.
No details have been reported on where the car involved in the initial crash, described as a Tesla, ended up. Other vehicles subsequently crashed due to debris on the roadway from the first incident.
The only vehicle described that was involved in a later crash was a Kia Sorrento, black in color, according to the California Highway Patrol. The exact number of vehicles that crashed has not been reported.
None of the drivers involved in any of the crashes have been identified, including their names, ages, gender, and cities of residence. It is not known if anyone had been traveling as a passenger in any of the vehicles that crashed.
Responders took the person who had been driving the truck to Sharp Memorial Hospital. The person suffered injuries that have not been described. The person’s current condition is not known.
Reports do not say how many people were injured in the incidents, and who they are. Investigators are working to gather details and information to understand the sequence of events of the crashes.
