Vehicle Hits and Kills Pedestrian in San Clemente
SAN CLEMENTE, CA (January 28, 2019) – A vehicle hit and killed a pedestrian in the evening on Friday in San Clemente. The January 25 accident occurred on Avenida Del Presidente.
The time was roughly 7:00 p.m., according to Carrie Braun. Braun is a spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Reports say that a vehicle was heading north on Avenida Del Presidente. In an area a bit to the north of Avenida De Las Palmera, the vehicle struck a pedestrian. The victim was identified only as a woman in her 30s. The victim’s name and city of residence have not yet been reported.
According to Braun, it is not yet known if the victim had been walking in the road’s lane for bikes, or the traffic lane heading north. Braun also said that the speed of the vehicle at the time of the accident is not known.
The person who had been driving the vehicle—identified as a woman in her 50s—remained at the accident scene. She cooperated with investigators. The identity of the driver, including her name, age, and city of residence has not yet been reported. A description of the vehicle she was driving has not been reported.
Investigators are examining the information and circumstances that led to the accident. The cause of the accident, and other details, have not been reported at this time.
