One Person Seriously Injured in San Bernardino Collision Involving Car and OmniTrans Bus
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (May 9, 2019) – A collision late Wednesday afternoon in San Bernardino seriously injured one person and injured six other people. The May 8 incident occurred close to Base Line Street and Sierra Way.
The time was roughly 5:30 p.m., according to Eric Sherwin. Sherwin is a spokesperson for the San Bernardino County Fire Department.
Reports say the collision involved a car and an OmniTrans bus. According to Wendy Williams, who is a spokesperson for OmniTrans, the bus had been traveling eastbound on Base Line Street. A car that had been traveling westbound on Base Line Street swerved into the bus’s line of travel.
Respondents from the fire department had to work to extricate a victim who had been in the car, according to Sherwin. Respondents transported the victim to Loma Linda University Medical Center. The injuries the person suffered were described as life threatening. The identity of the victim, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported. It is not known if anyone else had been traveling in the car.
Six people who had been traveling as passengers on the bus suffered minor injuries in the incident, and received treatment. According to Williams, the person who had been driving the bus did not want medical treatment at the accident site. The identity of the bus driver, and the identities of the six other victims have not been reported.
Investigators are continuing their work into examining the incident details.
