Ventura Man and One Other Killed in Big Rig Crash
VENTURA, CA (November 1, 2021) – On Friday night, a crash between a big rig and an SUV killed two people in Ventura. The October 29 crash occurred in the area of Saticoy, on Wells Road at Highway 126.
The time was roughly a little before 10:00 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Reports say a vehicle–described as a Mitsubishi Montero SUV–had been traveling on Wells Road and heading south. A big rig–described as a Freightliner truck and trailer–exited Highway 126 and was making a left turn to Wells Road.
The Mitsubishi collided with the truck’s trailer, and erupted in flames, according to reports.
Two people who had been traveling in the SUV were killed. They were identified as Ruben F. Hernandez, a resident of Oxnard, 33 years old. He had been driving the vehicle.
The passenger was identified only as a resident of Oxnard, 22 years old. His name has not been reported.
The truck driver was reported uninjured in the crash. He was identified only as a resident of Fillmore, 64 years old. His name has not been reported.
Investigators are continuing their work on the crash.
