Patrol Car Collision at Commonwealth Avenue Leaves One Injured
RIVERSIDE, CA (February 3, 2025) – A collision involving a Riverside County Sheriff’s patrol vehicle and a Tesla sedan resulted in minor injuries at the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Hewitt Street on Monday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), officers responded to the crash at approximately 3:45 p.m. Upon arrival, authorities found that a sheriff’s patrol SUV had collided with the Tesla, though details regarding the cause of the accident remain unclear.
The Collision Closed The Intersection For Hours
Investigators have not confirmed whether the injured individual was the deputy or the Tesla driver. The intersection was temporarily closed as traffic detectives worked to determine the circumstances leading to the crash.
Officials urge drivers to remain attentive while on the road and avoid distractions such as mobile phones to prevent accidents—especially when emergency vehicles are responding to calls.
