Two-vehicle Collision on 91 Freeway in Riverside Kills One Person
RIVERSIDE, CA (April 3, 2019) – A two vehicle collision Tuesday night on the 91 Freeway in Riverside killed one person. The April 2 accident occurred in the freeway’s eastbound lanes, close to the exit for East Street.
The time was roughly 10:10 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Reports say that a vehicle—which has not been described—struck the back of a big rig. When respondents arrived on scene, smoke was coming from the vehicle. According to the California Highway Patrol, the person who had been driving the vehicle was not responsive.
It is not clear from reports if the driver of the vehicle was the person who died. The identity of the vehicle’s driver, including the person’s name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported. It is not known if anyone else had been traveling as a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
According to reports, witnesses said the vehicle had gone into the air before hitting the rear-end of the big rig.
