Suspects Fleeing Police in Riverside Lead to Vehicle Crash, Injuries, Gas Leak, and Train Delay
RIVERSIDE, CA (October 31, 2018) – A driver who was fleeing from Riverside police in the afternoon on Tuesday collided with a vehicle, injuring the driver, and caused train service to be delayed.
The October 30 incident began when police attempted to make a traffic stop for a vehicle that had been lost or stolen, according to reports. The vehicle led police on a chase for three blocks, according to Ryan Railsback. Railsback is a police officer.
The driver and a passenger continued to evade police, and then their vehicle collided with another vehicle, smashed into a building, and struck a line for natural gas.
The suspects ran from the vehicle and police arrested them shortly after.
The person who had been driving the vehicle that was struck by the suspects’ vehicle suffered critical injuries. She was transported to a hospital.
Due to the accident, passenger service from downtown Riverside to La Sierra station on Metrolink had to be shut down. Service at Los Angeles’ Union Station was also delayed.
No details have yet been reported on the identities of the suspects, or the identity of the victim who was injured.
