Collision with Big Rig Kills One Person in Riverside

RIVERSIDE, CA (May 2, 2019) – One person was killed in a collision between a pickup truck and a big rig late at night on Wednesday in Riverside. The May 1 accident occurred where Arfon Way and Buena Vista Avenue intersect.

The time was a bit before midnight, according to the Riverside Police Department.

Reports say a pickup truck—described as a 2000 Chevrolet—had been heading east on Buena Vista Avenue at a fast speed. It struck the back end of a Freightliner truck. According to authorities, the impact threw the driver from the pickup truck.

Respondents arrived and pronounced the driver of the pickup deceased at the accident site. His name, age, and city of residence have not been reported.

Lt. Graham said the person who had been driving the big rig stayed at the accident site and cooperated with the investigation. The identity of the big rig driver, including the person’s name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.
