Pomona Wrong-Way Driver Causes Deadly Crash on Freeway, Killing Two Women and Seriously Injuring A Toddler
POMONA, CA (March 24, 2025) – Rick Rodriguez caused a tragic multi-vehicle collision from driving the wrong-way. Unfortunately, it claimed the lives of two women and left a toddler severely injured late Saturday night on the Pomona (60) Freeway.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash occurred around 11 p.m. on March 24th in the westbound lanes of State Route 60, just west of Reservoir Street.
Rick Rodriguez Was Driving a 2013 Honda Accord When Entering The Freeway
Authorities identified the wrong-way driver as 24-year-old Rick Rodriguez of Pomona, who was allegedly behind the wheel of a 2013 Honda Accord traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes when it collided head-on with a 2018 Honda Civic carrying two women and a one-year-old child.
The impact caused Rodriguez’s vehicle to spin out and strike a 2019 Toyota Highlander. The driver of the Highlander sustained minor injuries, officials said.
Sadly Both Women Were Pronounced Dead At The Scene
Tragically, both women in the Civic, aged 29 and 39, suffered major injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics rushed the toddler, the suspect, and the Highlander’s driver to a hospital for treatment. Two of the three sustained major injuries, while one had minor injuries, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the fatal crash to determine the cause and liability and Rick Rodriguez’s place in it.
