Rialto Crash Kills Man, Injures Four People Including Two Children
RIALTO, CA (May 4, 2021) – Early in the morning on Sunday in Rialto, a crash killed a driver and injured four people, two of whom are children. The May 2 incident occurred at Cedar Avenue and Merrill Avenue.
The time was roughly a little before 4:00 a.m., according to Rialto Police.
Two vehicles–described as a Mitsubishi Eclipse and an Audi A6–collided. The Mitsubishi had been heading east on Merrill Avenue. The Audi had been heading south on Cedar Avenue.
According to reports, the Mitsubishi is suspected of having gone through a light that was red. The Audi hit the Mitsubishi broadside, according to police.
Responders pronounced the driver of the Mitsubishi deceased at the crash site. Authorities later identified him as Nathaniel Cardenas, a resident of Colton, 35 years old.
Two children who had been passengers in the Mitsubishi suffered injuries that were described as serious. Responders transported them to a hospital in the area. They were identified as 4 and 8 years old.
Two people had been traveling in the Audi. The driver suffered injuries that were described as minor. He was identified only as 23 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
The person who had been traveling as a passenger in the Audi suffered injuries that were described as moderate. The person was identified only as 26 years old. The name and city of residence have not been reported.
