Driver Stabbed by Carjacker in Redondo Beach; Suspect Crashes with Other Vehicle
REDONDO BEACH, CA (December 30, 2020) – On Tuesday morning in Redondo Beach, a driver was stabbed by a carjacker who later crashed the stolen vehicle. The December 29 incident began on North Pacific Coast Highway in the 600 block.
The time was roughly 9:00 a.m., Redondo Beach Police said.
A man was stabbed by the suspect who then took his vehicle and fled.
Responders arrived and transported the injured man to a hospital. Reports say the victim suffered stab wounds to his torso and upper back, but he is in stable condition after surgery. His identity has not been reported.
Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department saw the vehicle in the area of Rancho Palos Verdes, and began to pursue it. Shortly after, the vehicle the suspect was driving collided with another vehicle.
The vehicle the suspect was driving then smashed into telephone poles and struck a wall near Avenida Aprenda and Western Avenue. Neither vehicle has been described.
Responders transported the suspect to the hospital. The types of injuries he suffered, and current condition, are not known. His identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported. The charges he faces have not been reported.
The person who had been driving the other vehicle involved in the collision was not injured, reports say. The identity of the driver of the second vehicle has also not been reported.
Investigators are continuing their work on the incident.
