Two Big Rigs Collide in Redlands, Spilling Fuel on 10 Freeway
REDLANDS, CA (January 16, 2019) – A collision early in the morning on Tuesday in Redlands involving two big rigs caused a fuel spill on the 10 Freeway and injuries. The January 15 accident occurred on the eastbound side of the freeway, in between Wabash Avenue and Yucaipa Boulevard.
The time was roughly a bit after 5:00 a.m.
Reports say that two big rigs collided, and one of the trucks ended up traveling down an embankment. The truck had significant damage, and its tank had ruptured. Diesel fuel leaked out of the tank, and roughly 25 gallons soaked into the ground.
The person who had been driving the truck—identified only as a man, and in his 60s—was taken to a hospital. The man’s name and city of residence have not yet been reported. It is not known from reports what kinds of injuries he suffered, and what his current condition is.
Reports also say that one person received treatment for injuries that were described as minor, but it is not clear if that person was the driver of the other big rig. The identity of the driver of the other big rig, including the person’s name, age, gender, and city of residence have not yet been reported, nor the types of injuries the person may have suffered.
It is not known from reports who the owners of the big rigs are, and which companies they belong to.
According to the Redlands Fire Department, the cleanup of the spilled fuel took four hours. No details have been reported on what led up to the accident, and what caused the big rigs to collide.
Investigators are looking into the information and details to find out what happened. At this time, no other details are available.
