Motorcyclist Killed in Collision on San Vicente Road in Ramona

RAMONA, CA (May 3, 2019) – A motorcyclist who had been traveling at a fast speed in a rural area close to Ramona died after colliding with an SUV in the afternoon on Wednesday. The May 1 incident occurred in the area of San Diego Country Estates.

The time was a bit earlier than 1:00 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.

Reports say the motorcyclist had been traveling on San Vicente Road heading east at a high rate of speed. The motorcyclist collided with an SUV that turned onto the road from Vista Vicente Drive. The motorcycle struck the driver’s side of the vehicle.

Bystanders and respondents tried to help the motorcyclist, but he died at the accident site, according to Jeff Christy, who is a public affairs officer with the California Highway Patrol. The victim’s name, age, and city of residence have not been reported. The motorcyclist had been wearing a helmet when the incident occurred.

Witnesses said the motorcyclist had been popping wheelies and swerving around vehicles that were moving slower before the collision happened.

The identity of the driver of the SUV has not been reported, and it is not known if anyone else had been traveling in the vehicle as a passenger. Reports do not say if anyone else was hurt in the incident.

Investigators are examining the details of the crash, and its causes.
