Motorcycle and Car Collide in Ramona, Seriously Injuring Rider
RAMONA, CA (May 3, 2021) – Early in the afternoon on Friday in Ramona, a collision involving a motorcycle and a car seriously injured the rider. The April 30 incident occurred on Third Street where D Street intersects.
The time was roughly 2:00 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
A motorcyclist had been traveling on Third Street and heading south, reports say. A vehicle–described as a Toyota Corolla–is suspected of making a turn to the left in front of the oncoming motorcycle.
The rider struck the car on the passenger side, and the rider was thrown from the motorcycle. Responders arrived and transported the patient by airlift to Palomar Medical Center, according to Jeff Christy. Christy is a public-affairs officer with the California Highway Patrol.
The patient suffered injuries that were described as major. He was identified only as 53 years old, and a resident of Ramona. His name has not been reported.
The person who had been driving the Toyota was reported to not have been hurt in the crash. She was identified only as 17 years old and a resident of Ramona. Her name has not been reported.
Investigators are continuing the work of gathering information about the crash.
