Hit-and-run Crash Traps Driver in Vehicle on Rainbow Valley Boulevard in Rainbow

RAINBOW, CA (March 19, 2020) – A hit-and-run crash early in the morning on Wednesday in Rainbow resulted in a driver being seriously injured and trapped in the wreckage. The March 18 incident occurred on Rainbow Valley Road in the 1900 block, near I-15 and to the east of it.

The time was roughly 7:30 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.

Reports say two vehicles collided, but the manner in which the collision happened has not been reported. One of the drivers involved in the crash fled the scene, presumably on foot.

Responders arrived and worked to free the other driver from the wreckage of the vehicle he was trapped in. They transported him to Palomar Hospital with injuries that were described as life threatening, according to John Choi. Choi is a spokesperson with North County Fire Protection.

The identity of the victim, including his name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.

Investigators are searching for the person who fled the crash site, and had been the driver of the Honda found there. The driver has not been described.
