Woman Struck and Killed by Big Rig at Poway Strip Mall on Poway Road
POWAY, CA (March 4, 2021) – On Wednesday morning in Poway, a woman was killed when a tractor-trailer struck her. The March 3 incident occurred at a strip mall located on Poway Road in the 13300 block.
The time was roughly a little after 9:30 a.m., according to the Sheriff’s Department.
The woman was hit by the big rig on an access road located behind the strip mall. She was dragged roughly 50 feet and then run over, authorities said.
Responders arrived to help. The victim died at the crash site, according to David Toner. Toner is a sergeant with the department.
The identity of the victim, including her name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
The identity of the truck driver has not been reported. Investigators are working to understand why the crash happened, and they are collecting details and information for that effort.
