POWAY, CA (February 15, 2021) – Steve Pirolli and Stephen Pirolli–identified as father and son–were killed in a crash in Poway on Friday night. The February 12 incident occurred on Espola Road in the 15500 block.
The time was roughly 7:00 p.m., according to authorities.
Reports say the two victims had been leaving baseball practice, and pulling out of a parking lot at Poway High School. Their vehicle was struck broadside by another vehicle–described as a Mercedes.
Responders arrived and found the driver in the broadsided vehicle died at the crash site. They transported the passenger to Rady Children’s Hospital. He died in the hospital.
Steve Pirolli was 54 years old. Stephen Pirolli was 14 years old.
The person who had been driving the Mercedes suffered injuries that were described as not life threatening. The current condition of the patient is not known.
The driver was identified only as 19 years old. The person’s name and city of residence have not been reported.
Investigators are continuing to work on the incident.
