Robert Tockstein Struck and Killed While Walking in Poway
POWAY, CA (November 16, 2018) – Robert Tockstein was hit and killed by a vehicle while he was walking in an intersection in Poway where investigators were examining an accident that happened a half hour prior.
The November 13 accident occurred where Midland Road and Twin Peaks Road intersect. Robert Tockstein was hit and killed at roughly 8:35 p.m.
According to reports, a crash that occurred in the same intersection at roughly 8:05 p.m. involved Tockstein’s wife. She hit a pedestrian who had been walking across the road in a crosswalk, Dustin Lopez said. Lopez is a sheriff’s lieutenant. Responders took the victim to Escondido’s Palomar Medical Center. The victim’s injuries were described as minor.
According to Lopez, Tockstein came to the accident scene while investigators were examining the first crash. Tockstein, reports say, moved the vehicle his wife had been driving. As he was heading back on foot to the site of the first crash, a vehicle hit him on Twin Peaks Road in the east crosswalk.
Responders took Tockstein to Escondido’s Palomar Medical Center. The 69-year-old resident of Ramona was pronounced deceased on Wednesday, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
The person who had been driving the car that hit Tockstein stayed at the accident scene and cooperated with the investigation.
No other details have yet been reported. Investigators are examining the details to determine what caused the first and second accident.
