Multi-vehicle Collision on SR-67 in Poway Leads to Road Closure
POWAY, CA (January 18, 2019) – A collision in the morning on Friday in Poway involving multiple vehicles on state Route 67 led to road closures. The January 18 accident occurred in the highway’s southbound lane, close to Poway Road.
The time was roughly 6:40 a.m.
Reports say five vehicles, and possibly more, collided. No details have yet been reported on the types of vehicles involved in the crash, or what the sequence was of crashed vehicles.
Respondents arrived on scene to help people. It is not yet known from reports if anyone was hurt. The identities of the drivers involved in the crash, including their names, ages, gender, and cities of residence have not yet been reported. It is not known if anyone else had been traveling in any of the vehicles involved in the crash.
A person who had been driving on the highway at the time of the accident said the road surface was slippery because of rain from the night before. What caused the accident has not been reported, and the sequence of events that led to the chain-reaction crash has not been reported.
Officials had to close the two-lane highway to work on the site, and to clear the wrecked vehicles.
Investigators are examining the details and evidence to understand what happened.
