1 Killed, 2 Hurt After Car vs. Semi-Truck Crash on Hwy 190 at Road 208
Porterville, CA (July 15, 2024) – A deadly accident involving a car and a semi-truck occurred on Highway 190 at Road 208 on Monday, resulting in one fatality.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened when a 49-year-old man driving a southbound 2013 GMC Terrain failed to stop at a posted stop sign. The GMC crossed the intersection and collided with the right side of a westbound 2020 International semi-truck hauling two trailers.
The Accident Was So Severe It Blocked The Westbound Lanes of Highway 190
The impact of the crash caused one of the trailers to overturn, blocking the westbound side of the highway, while the GMC came to a stop on the north shoulder.
Despite all occupants wearing seat belts, the driver of the GMC was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers in the GMC sustained minor to major injuries and were transported to Kaweah Health Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the semi-truck reported no injuries.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident and have not yet determined if DUI was a factor. Further details will be provided as the investigation continues.
